The State of Oklahoma became the second state in the United States to have a RFT (Renovacao Fight Team) training center. The beautiful Muskogee, one of the main cities of Oklahoma, with 40 000 inhabitants, is the home Thunder MMA academy led by the veteran Ty Pilgrim.
The headmaster of the Brazilian team Marcio Cromado started the process of expanding the team’s name in Oklahoma on the month of June when he went to the US. RFT has a training center in the States. It is localized in San Francisco, California, since 2004 under the command of Cyrillo Padilha.
The demand for Luta Livre and MMA classes taught by Brazilian coaches is very high nowadays. At Thunder academy is no different, many people are enrolled in classes that goes from Monday through Friday between afternoon and evening hours, and differently from another training centers the little one also have a chance to develop their skills in martial arts.
Pilgrim has been practicing Boxing and Muay Thai for nearly 30 years and just received the Luta Livre brown belt from master Marcio Cromado.
According to Cromado, “Luta Livre deserves more attention in United States and Ty has been developing a very serious work through many years in order to put Luta Livre on the spot that is deserves. I’m sure that having Thunder and RFT working together is definitely a good thing that will help not just both teams but most of all Luta Livre”.
Cromado stated further that “It is a very good time and both of our teams will grow with this partnership, our main focus is the future of MMA. A good example of that is the fact that we have specific classes just for children at Thunder, with that we will be able to prepare good fighter with a good base”.
In order to take MMA training at Thunder to the next level, one of Thunder’s head coach, Victor Lloyd visited Rio de Janeiro, Brazil willing to participate in the camp offer by RFT on their very own training center.
Lloyd received guidance from Cromado and his coaches, with a goal to observe and apply his observation in the classes at Thunder. “We are proud of join the RFT family. Our team is celebrating and we will work hard at it”, said Ty.
August 6 will be the first competition that will showcase not just Thunder’s flag but RFT. It will be held in Fort Smith, Arkansas. At least three Thunder fighters will be competing at Xtreme Heat. These fighters are looking forward for a good out come not just for Thunder but for RFT as well. On September 19th at least 15 fighters will be on NAGA in Dallas for a tournament.
